Batt Academy - Foundation Class (1 of 3)

$75.00

Saturday September 5th 1pm Pacific/2 Central/3 Eastern Time

Virtual Live Carding Workshop

This will be a three-part class series where I teach you how to reverse engineer the batt carding process so that you can control the way your yarn works up. Weather for knitting, crochet, or weaving.

For example, a beautiful woven duster jacket doesn't just happen, it is an intentional process that starts at the very beginning. You will learn the mastery and control of each element from the fiber you select, to the carding method and color distribution and finally, to the spinning style you choose so that you can create the exact textile piece you want every time.

Session 1 will focus on foundational principles for color and texture diffusion.

We will create single process and double process batts for a spinners study.

The ultimate goal for this workshop series is to create a book of samples and swatches that you can reference when deciding on a project.

Do you like a double-carded tweed single ply, or a single carded tweed chain ply? Do you prefer the look of an ombre, a soft stripe or a hard stripe?

Each workshop will be $75, which includes live instruction and a PDF book of the instructors swatches for each carding type. Class will be filmed, edited and available for students to reference later at their leisure.

After checkout, students will receive an email with instructions and links to where to purchase fiber, dye, and class web address
